UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering Ring Ceremony

Kevin and Kim attended the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering. There was a smaller ceremony before the large graduation for the university for just the engineers. It was called the Ring Ceremony because each graduating engineer receives a silver ring and takes an oath to uphold the dignity and honor of their chosen field. It was a really neat ceremony to watch.

All the rings were separated by size in these red cups.

Here is the dean of the school and Mr. Jacobs; the school's namesake.
There were no caps and gown worn at this ceremony, so everyone was required to wear black and white formal attire.

The ceremony as seen from the library.

Kim getting her ring. They wore them around their necks until after they took the oath. Then they could put them on their finger.

I love the way she is looking at him here and how they are holding hands.

After the ceremony, there was a reception with cake and punch.

Kim's family attended(Kevin's attended the large graduation), and gave Kim and very special graduation gift.

Kim's new necklace and ring.

Kim's dad really wanted a picture hugging the giant stone bear. He named him "Rocky".

It was a wonderful day. I am so proud of both Kevin and Kim. I really enjoyed the idea behind the ceremony and the rings are beautiful. Thank you for letting me be a part of it!
